Formerly Director of Strategy and Planning for Barclays UK Banking, Chris brings over 30 years in the asset finance industry, having held board appointments as CFO, Sales & Marketing Director, Managing Director of Structured Asset Finance and Supervisory Board Chairman of a Barclays German Bank and leasing subsidiary. He was a Board Member of the UK Finance & Leasing Association and chair of its Asset Finance Division. He has led several domestic and international acquisitions, strategic alliances and JVs, and delivered record results for one of the largest sales teams in the asset finance industry.

Chris Cooper
Chris Cooper
Managing Director, Challenge Consulting

Chris Cooper is a founder and the head of Challenge Consulting Ltd. Now a 20-strong practice entering its ninth year of operation, Challenge is a strategic change management and performance improvement consulting firm.

Prior to setting up Challenge Consulting, Chris led the UK management consultancy and services business of Sybase, the US systems house. Before that, he led the change management consulting practice at BDO Stoy Hayward. Chris started his consulting career with Deloitte Consulting eighteen years ago. Chris brings a wealth of consulting experience from across many financial and industrial sectors. Strategy, innovation, change, enterprise design and performance improvement are all core competencies.

His recent work in asset finance and leasing includes leading the programme to design and implement the creation of the single new business out of the merger of ING Lease UK and Abbey’s leasing interests. He is currently playing a leading role in other major integration and innovation projects in the sector.

Adam Daniels
Adam Daniels
Partner, Ernst & Young LLP

Adam Daniels is a Partner in the Financial Services Transaction Advisory Services Team in the UK. Adam has twenty years experience working in financial services, fourteen of which have been in mergers and acquisitions. During this time Adam has focused on secured and unsecured consumer finance including mortgages, loans and cards and commercial finance including leasing and speciality finance. Adam works extensively with corporates, private equity and hybrid capital houses.

Prior to joining Ernst & Young, Adam led Deloitte’s financial services advisory team. Pre-Deloitte Adam spent nearly seven years working at GE Capital in a number of leadership roles including being the UK Business Development leader for Consumer Finance and the European Mergers and Acquisitions leader for Equipment Leasing. Adam also worked at Hambros Bank for eight years in corporate finance and asset finance.

Adam attended City University and has an honours degree in Economics and Accountancy. Adam is a member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.

He is currently the Managing Director of Lloyds TSB Corporate Markets’ corporate asset finance and rail capital businesses within the structured finance division.

Ian Isaac
Ian Isaac
Director of Strategy & Business Improvement, Lombard

Since joining Lombard as an Account Executive in 1987, Ian has enjoyed a series of leadership roles.  After a spell as assistant to the CEO, Ian held Business Centre Manager then Area Manager positions in the south east and London.  His next step was to become Lombard’s Head of Credit Management, a role he carried out for three years before being seconded  to RBS Asset Finance, USA (formerly Lombard US Equipment Finance), where he played a leading role in the in integration of a US acquisition.  Moving back to the UK in 2003, Ian took the roles of Director of Risk for Lombard Corporate Finance then Head of Structured Asset Finance Portfolio Structured Asset Finance, before progressing to his current position in 2005.

As Director of Strategy and Business Improvement, Ian has broad responsibilities covering strategy, marketing, customer experience, learning and development, business improvement and delivering strategic system and change programmes.

As part of Lombard Exco, Ian shares executive responsibility for delivering Lombard vision and business plans.

Ian Isaac
Derren Sanders
Head of Asset Finance, HSBC

Derren leads one of the fastest growing and most integrated asset financiers in the UK.  Responsible for a business with lending soon to reach £2billion, it services business customers across the spectrum of sizes and in most industries.   Specialisms exist in Commercial Vehicles, Marine Finance and Big ticket “structured” lending, alongside the most prominent Print lending business in the UK.

In his 2 ½ years in the role, Derren has led an expansion which is approaching a 20% / a compound.  Future expansion will be enabled by the imminent implementation of a customer friendly, interactive computer system.  Derren also has responsibility for assisting the internationalisation of HSBC’s asset finance business, with experience in Mexico, Middle East, Canada, China and Hong Kong

Derren’s background is in strategy and advising growing and ambitious companies.  With a degree in Operational Research from a leading business school, he joined PricewaterhouseCoopers in 1994.  Qualifying as an accountant he rose rapidly to the role of Director in the Corporate Finance department, advising on disposals, acquisitions, MBOs and private equity transactions between £5m and £500m.

Seeking a new challenge Derren joined HSBC in 2003, to work in the Strategy & Development team within Commercial Banking.  Derren was appointed to the current role in late 2005 to spearhead the bank’s asset finance growth plans in the UK, at 33, the youngest Managing Director in the asset finance industry.

Formerly Head of Tax & Technical Support, HSBC Commercial Banking. A chartered accountant with extensive experience across the whole of the asset finance market, including the UK’s largest leasing transaction and several asset finance company acquisitions, disposals, joint ventures and corporate restructures. George works with the FLA in developing technical policy decisions and negotiations with regulatory bodies. M&A experience as senior member of due diligence teams with specific responsibility for tax, bank regulatory clearance, holding company approval and financial modelling.
